Be in the Know While You Go with United Airlines
This holiday season, United Sales encourages customers to be in the know while they go by subscribing to Flight Status Notifications.
This service keeps travelers informed by providing the latest updates, including:
Flight status updates on scheduled departure time and gate
Check in reminders 24 hours prior to scheduled departure
Delay or cancellation notices on impacted flights
Re-accommodation notices when the customer’s itinerary has changed due to an irregular event such as severe weather
Customers may enroll by visiting united.com/flightstatus and entering their eight-character MileagePlus® account number. Customization is available, allowing subscribers to choose what types of notifications they receive, what information they value most, and the time and manner in which is it received.
If customers are already enrolled, they are encouraged to verify or change their preferences through their MileagePlus profile at any time.
Important Information for Travel Agencies Regarding Customer Contact Information
United takes a hierachical approach to ensuring that customers are provided with check-in notices and are informed of changes impacting their travel. Below is the order in which United’s system determines how and when a customer is contacted:
MileagePlus profile preferences and Flight Status Notification enrollment: The system determines if the customer prefers e-mail or phone notifications, and then uses the e-mail address or phone number provided by the traveler in their preference setting.
E-mail in record: If no preference is listed in the MileagePlus account or no MileagePlus number is provided, the system will look for an email address within the customer’s record.
Phone in record: If no email address is in provided in the record, the system will look for a phone number.
United only uses phone numbers in the Home (H) or Business (B) fields of the record. If the phone number is provided with an Agency (A), the number will be skipped.
The system will call the first H or B number in the record – if none is provided, the customer will not receive a notification.
Please note that if the agency provides their phone number in the H or B fields, they may begin receiving travel notifications instead of the passenger. These calls do not include identifying information such as customer name or record locator.
Thank you for your business and continued support as we build the world’s leading airline.
